TOP employer 2024 rankings

"Alma Career Latvia has compiled the list of Latvia’s best employers for the fourteenth consecutive year, once again reaching a new participation record – over 18,100 respondents. This clearly demonstrates that employees are increasingly eager to voice their opinions and contribute to the evaluation of labor market quality and employer reputation.
Recognizing the construction sector’s importance in the Latvian labor market, this year’s survey introduced a dedicated category for the first time, offering a clearer view of employer reputation and attractiveness within the industry. We also updated the methodology for the top-of-mind category – if companies within a group operate under a unified employer brand and post job ads under a single name, their votes are now combined to better reflect the brand’s strength in the labor market. Another important milestone is the introduction of the “TOP Employer” survey across all Baltic countries using a unified methodology – enabling regional comparisons and deeper analysis of employer reputation in the Baltic context going forward.
This year’s “TOP Employer” results highlight notable shifts across the board — new leaders emerged in three categories, and nearly all saw significant changes. Competition has grown sharper, with employees naming more companies than in previous years, and achieving a top position required a higher vote count than before.
Thank you to all companies who keep investing in their people and culture – your recognition in this ranking reflects the value of those commitments."
Latvia’s 2024 TOP 50 employers in the main “top-of-mind” category saw notable changes this year — the top-ranked company has changed, and only one employer managed to retain its previous position. Three companies made their debut in the ranking, seven returned after a break, and sixteen improved their standings. In total, 1,709 different employers were mentioned spontaneously — roughly a third more than last year — highlighting the intensifying competition in the labor market. Just around 3% of all mentioned companies made it into the TOP 50, underscoring the increasing challenge of standing out and earning employee recognition.
The TOP 50 list showcases a broad representation of industries, with finance, telecommunications, and IT companies making up a significant portion. Retail, global business services, and manufacturing sectors also received strong employee recognition. Additionally, companies from the transport, energy, entertainment, food service, education, and healthcare sectors secured places in the ranking, reflecting their ability to offer attractive, stable, and trusted working environments.
Competition for a spot in the top three was especially fierce, with nearly identical vote shares separating second and third place. For the first time, wood processing company AS “Latvijas Finieris” was named Latvia’s most desirable employer in the key category “TOP Employer – Top-of-Mind”, earning 4.6% of spontaneous mentions and jumping 17 spots in the rankings. Financial institution “SEB” secured second place with 4.36% of the votes, while SIA “Latvijas aptieka” — a pharmaceutical retail company — held steady in third, chosen as the top employer by 4.27% of respondents.
